SNP candidate calls out Conservative over medical practice misinformation.

Andrew Bowie MP was left red-faced today after a major factual error on one of his Conservative Party leaflets forced a local Deeside medical practice to issue a clarification to reassure its patients.
Mr Bowie had claimed that he had contacted the chief officer from the Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership to ask for a meeting as regards Aboyne Medical Practice.
His leaflet said, “I have continually campaigned against a potential closure which has so far been avoided.”
As Mr Bowie’s leaflet landed on doormats in the area, the partners at Aboyne Medical Practice took to Facebook to issue a statement on the Aboyne Local page, “Many of you have been in touch with us over the last day or so regarding a campaign leaflet which you have received from Andrew Bowie MP and we just wanted to reassure you all that there is absolutely NO suggestion that our practice is at risk of closure. We have been in touch with Mr Bowie and have asked him to correct the assertion in the leaflet about our practice and we hope to hear from him soon.”
One comment under the post condemned Mr Bowie’s “political scaremongering” and another said, “This surgery is a credit to the staff and for him to try and use it as a political football shows how desperate he is.”
With the issue blowing up on social media, the SNP candidate for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, Glen Reynolds, said, “I am disappointed to read that Aboyne Medical Practice has felt compelled to issue this statement due to misinformation from Andrew Bowie. It must have caused real concern to both the professionals who work there and the patients. I hope he can correct the record.
“I welcome communication from the partners to discuss how I can be of any support.”
